How to get the GitHub Student Developer Pack in Pakistan
Updated 16 October 2026
The GitHub Student Developer Pack is a free bundle of developer tools for students. This guide walks through how to apply from Pakistan, step by step, using GitHub’s own documentation. The Uni Deals is not affiliated with GitHub.
What is the GitHub Student Developer Pack?
It is GitHub Education’s offer for students: free access to developer tools from GitHub and its partners. The pack page groups the offers into categories, including cloud, design, developer tools, domains, security, productivity and learning.
GitHub Copilot Student is in the pack too. GitHub says it gives verified students unlimited code completions, an allowance of GitHub AI Credits, and limited chat and agent use with models chosen by auto model selection only. GitHub’s documentation also says verified students get free access to GitHub Copilot, and free use of GitHub Codespaces for their personal accounts.
The partner list changes over time, and partners leave it, so read the pack page on the day you apply rather than relying on an older list. We have left out most prices and amounts on purpose, because they change.
Who can get the GitHub Student Pack?
You can get the GitHub Student Developer Pack from Pakistan if you are enrolled in a degree or diploma granting course, own a GitHub personal account, are at least 13 and can prove your current student status. Where you study does not matter.
GitHub’s application guide lists four requirements. You need to:
- Be enrolled in a degree or diploma granting course.
- Have a GitHub personal account.
- Be at least 13 years old.
- Provide documents that prove your current student status.
None of these is about which country you study in. They are about your enrolment and your proof. The decision on your application is GitHub’s, and we cannot promise an outcome or a timeline.
What should you have ready before you apply?
A little preparation saves a second attempt. Gather these first:
- Your GitHub login, and access to the inbox of any university email you plan to add.
- A clear photo of one proof document from the list further down this page.
- Five quiet minutes, because the form is short but the photo needs to be good.
If you are not sure which proof suits your university, a fee slip or an enrolment letter is a common starting point. Check it against GitHub’s list before you upload it.
How do you apply, step by step?
- Use a GitHub personal account. If you do not have one yet, create it first.
- Add your university email, if your school needs it. GitHub says that if other students at your school verified with an academic email, you may need to do the same. Add and verify that address on your account first.
- Check your email formatting. GitHub says your academic address should be all lowercase and should not use plus-addressing, such as user+school@example.com.
- Open your Education benefits settings. Under GitHub Education, choose Start an application.
- Fill in the form and submit. Have your proof of enrolment ready.
- Wait for the decision. When you are approved, you can open your GitHub Education portal and start using the offers.
Which email should you use in Pakistan?
Many Pakistani universities give students an address ending in .edu.pk. If yours does, add and verify it on your GitHub account before you apply. It is the easiest way to show where you study.
Not every university domain is known to GitHub. If your school’s domain is not recognised, GitHub says to contact GitHub Education Support with your school’s name, website and email domain. If your school does not issue academic emails at all, GitHub says to submit official documentation, such as a school web page or a letter on letterhead, that explains the policy, and then apply again.
What proof of enrolment does GitHub accept?
GitHub accepts four kinds of proof of enrolment: a school ID with a current enrolment date, a class schedule, an academic transcript, or an affiliation or enrolment verification letter. Whichever you send, it has to show at least one date that fits GitHub’s rules, in a clear photo. GitHub lists them as:
- A school ID with a current enrolment date.
- A class schedule.
- An academic transcript.
- An affiliation or enrolment verification letter.
In its troubleshooting guide, GitHub asks for a document that clearly shows at least one date. A blurry photo is a common problem, so take it in good light and keep the whole page in the frame.
This part is our own advice, not GitHub’s. Check that your name and your institute are readable, and that the name on your GitHub profile is one you would expect to see on your document.
Why might your application be rejected?
Most rejections come down to the proof: a blurry document, or one with no date that fits GitHub’s rules. Others are an academic email domain GitHub has not verified, an email already used on another account, or a course that is not degree or diploma granting.
These are the reasons GitHub lists on its page for solving problems with your access:
- The document is unclear, blurry or does not show a date that fits the eligibility criteria. Upload a school ID, transcript or similar document that shows at least one date.
- Your academic email has a domain GitHub has not verified.
- Your school issues email addresses before a student has paid for enrolment.
- Your academic email was already used for another GitHub account. GitHub says to merge your accounts and keep the one that was granted the discount.
- You are in an informal learning programme that is not a degree or diploma granting course, or you are under 13.
For the first three, GitHub asks for further proof of your academic status. If you are stuck, contact GitHub Education Support and say which steps you tried and where it went wrong. GitHub also says to submit a new application when your access ends and you are still eligible.
What happens after you are approved?
You get access to your GitHub Education portal, where the pack offers live. Each partner sets its own terms, so read what each offer asks of you before you claim it. Some offers may need a separate sign-up on the partner’s own site.
Your access does not last for ever. When it ends and you are still a student, open your Education benefits settings and apply again, as GitHub’s documentation describes. Keep your proof of enrolment up to date so the next application is easy.
Is there a student discount for everyday life too?
The same idea, a one-time check that you are a student, applies to everyday prices in Pakistan. The Uni Deals is a free platform where you verify once and use the same pass for food, fashion, getting around and study tools. Create your account to get verified, or read our guide to student discounts in Pakistan.
